Recap with Dan Dowdy: Appreciation: The Under Valued Tool In Employee Retention

Recap with Dan Dowdy: Valuing People Over Profit

In this episode of the Built for the Trades podcast, host Dan Dowdy recaps his recent interview with Justin Carrol of P1 Service Group. Justin’s mission is to value people first to enhance lives, and in this recap, Dan shares five steps you can take right now to start putting people first.

In the original interview with Justin, we learned how people genuinely want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. As you listen through this episode, note how you can start showing people you want to support and guide them to that more significant place.

How do you do that? Listen to this episode for these top tips:

  1. Find out how to focus on the employee experience.

2. Uncover the five steps you can take right now to put people first.

3. Learn how to measure performance and coaching.

You can be a producer and not a leader, but you can’t be a leader without being a producer. The difference is, people want to follow people who are achieving at a high level, but people also want to follow people who are looking outside of themselves and serving other people.

– Dan Dowdy

Remember, people want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Have a vision of where you’re going and share it. They know where they can grow in your business when you have a vision, mission, and organizational structure. When the going gets tough, you’ll need to point to that and remind them that this is why it’s tough, and we need to buckle down and work through these challenging times. Otherwise, they’re jumping ship and headed to your competitor.
